Wheel throwing: Basic wheel-throwing techniques

Learn the fundamentals of centering, and making cylinders, cups, and bowls. Working with clay is a wondrous experience. You will make a bowl, coffee cup, juice, or water tumbler that you can take home and enjoy using daily, or give to a loved one or friend.

Wheel throwing: Hand Building

In this class, students will learn hand-building methods and create a variety of functional and decorative pieces. These methods include: pinching- to form small pots and vessels, coiling-used to create larger and taller structures, and slab- to form drape molds, wind chimes, and boxes. Students will also learn the stages a piece of clay must go through to become a finished piece of pottery as well as some history of ceramics, one of man’s oldest arts!

​The class is structured for the Beginner and Intermediate potters. Learn fundamentals of centering, making a cylinder, a cup, and a bowl. Working with clay is a wondrous experience. You will learn to make bowls, cups, or juice or water tumblers that you can take home and enjoy using each day, or give to a loved one or friend. Intermediate potters will grow in techniques, making pitchers, large bowls, wheel-thrown and hand-built platters, handles, etc.
